The Public Association of Teachers of English (PATE), formerly the Belarusian National Association of Teachers of English (BelNATE), is a voluntary professional non-governmental organization. The creation of the Belarusian Association of Teachers of English began in 1992–1993. In 1995, the BelNATE conference approved its charter and was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. In 2024, the organization was renamed due to changes in the requirements for non-governmental public associations in the Republic of Belarus. Today, PATE unites English language teachers of all educational levels from all regions of Belarus and the city of Minsk. PATE is an associate member of the international professional association IATEFL. We have established fruitful cooperation with similar organizations in various countries, especially with our neighbours: Poland and Russia. Given the significant changes in the education system, a key focus is on an interdisciplinary approach to teaching English and related subjects, which we hope will help us make important decisions regarding curriculum and teaching methods. PATE holds workshops and conference sessions to introduce participants to new approaches and educational technologies that need to be integrated into school and university curricula and teaching practices.
